The National Inter-school quiz competition comes to an end
EWS-WWF organised the National Inter-school Climate Change quiz competition as part of the Heroes School programme. This competition, sponsored by HSBC Bank Middle East Ltd. and supported by the Ministry of Education and Environment Agency- Abu Dhabi, welcomed all students aged 13-14 from private and government schools in the UAE.
More than 200 students, representing 100 schools from the UAE, participated in the qualifying rounds that started in February 2010. 38 students made it to the final live quiz, where they battled it out in front of a panel of judges to claim the top prize of an Energy & Water makeover for their school, valued at AED100,000.
The level of awareness on Climate Change issues that these students demonstrated was impressive, demonstrating that the objectives of the programme were being met in helping to create an environmentally conscious generation that is capable of leading a sustainable lifestyle and ensuring the well being of the planet.
